Texas REP Has More Than 15,000 Texans On Wait List For Product, Can't Serve Due To Municipal Rules

During a Texas legislative hearing today, Base Power CEO Zach Dell said that Base has more than 15,000 Texans on its wait list for its product which pairs a home energy storage battery with retail electric supply

Dell was speaking in support of HB 3493 which would prohibit municipalities from enacting certain regulations governing residential back-up power systems
Dell said that Base can't serve over 15,000 Texans on its wait list due to "burdensome" city permitting. Dell said that the wait list represents over 250 MW of capacity.
As introduced, HB 3493 would provide that a municipality may not adopt or enforce an ordinance,
rule, or other measure that would regulate the installation or
inspection of a residential energy backup system.
As introduced, HB 3493 would also provide that a municipality may not adopt or enforce an amendment to
the National Electrical Code that would regulate the installation
or inspection of a residential energy backup system.
HB 3493 was left pending in committee
The Texas Senate has passed a companion bill, SB 1252, which includes similar provisions
