CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric said in an annual energy efficiency plan report that, in 2025, CenterPoint Houston will deliver a stand-alone program to promote the installation of photovoltaic systems for residential customers within its service territory.

"While solar installations are currently eligible measures delivered through the Company’s energy efficiency programs, CenterPoint Houston believes a targeted program offering (and budget) will support greater adoption of solar technology and provide further grid reliability benefits," CenterPoint Houston said

"The Company has projected a program budget and impacts and is working to develop additional detail regarding program structure and requirements prior to launching this offering in 2025," CenterPoint Houston said

"The Residential Solar Program will provide incentives to qualified service providers for the installation of photovoltaic systems in residential retrofit applications. Installed systems must be new to qualify for incentive," CenterPoint Houston said

As listed in the report, the Residential Solar Program has an incentive budget of $1 million for 2025

In 2025, CenterPoint Houston projects that the new Residential Solar Program will produce savings of 2,500 kW and 11,500,000 kWh (both at the meter)

CenterPoint Houston's plan also notes the previously reported new REP Smart Thermostat Pilot which has been launched in 2025 (see details here)

Savings under the REP Smart Thermostat Pilot are project as 9,536,000 kWh for 2025

The REP Smart Thermostat Pilot has an incentive budget of $2 million for 2025

With respect to the other utilities, Texas-New Mexico Power's annual energy efficiency report indicates that TNMP may offer a REP Smart Thermostat Pilot in 2026, with the incentive budget listed as $100,000

TNMP also noted that a Residential Load Management Pilot may launch in 2025 in accordance with 16 TAC §25.181, which authorizes participating Project Sponsors (customers or third-party sponsors) to enroll load management devices that enable voluntary curtailment of electric demand during peak demand periods in return for incentive payments. Incentives are based on enrollment and participation. Project Sponsors are responsible for ensuring load control devices in participating residences.

AEP Texas's annual energy efficiency report does not provide an indication of offering a REP Smart Thermostat Pilot as part of the suite of programs covered in the report

Both AEP Texas and TNMP had indicated in early 2024 that a REP Smart Thermostat Pilot was under consideration and possible for 2026, but not 2025
