The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com

Base Power is expanding to Houston its residential retail electricity program which includes a home energy storage battery, offering service at both the CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric and Texas-New Mexico Power service areas

In the CenterPoint-TDU area, for a customer who, as part of retail enrollment, also automatically enrolls in Base Power's home energy storage plan and who selects a 25 kWh battery, Base offers a 36-month fixed, 100% renewable retail electric plan with an average all-in rate of 14.3¢ per kWh, which reflects an energy charge of 8.5¢ per kWh and TDU charges of 5.3509¢ per kWh and $4.39 per month. There is no early termination fee

Billed separately is Base Power's home energy storage plan which, for the 25 kWh battery system, is $16 per month, billed annually. The plan includes a $495 installation fee. Base will waive the installation fee for the first 500 Houston homeowners who submit a refundable deposit.

Base is also accepting orders for a new generator plug-in that, "transforms a portable generator into a whole-home power source, providing seamless, extended backup for multi-day outages -- without the tens of thousands of dollars for whole-home generators."

The "Generator plug-in" add-on costs $1,000

In the Houston expansion, Base will initially serve customers in the Cy-Fair, Spring, Cinco Ranch, and Mission Bend communities with plans to expand to the entire Houston area over the coming months.

Base previously launched service in the Oncor territory

As first reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com, co-founders of Base include Zach Dell, CEO, and Justin Lopas, COO. Base has secured funding from investors including Thrive Capital, Valor Equity Partners, Altimeter Capital, Trust Ventures, Terrain, and others
