Utility Selects Retail Supplier To Serve PIPP Load
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
Duke Energy Ohio has sought approval from the PUC of Ohio to award a new contract to Utility Gas & Power (LE Energy LLC) to supply natural gas to Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP) customers
PIPP customers are ineligible for choice. Utility Gas & Power is the current supplier selected to serve PIPP customers
Specifically, after conducting an RFP, Duke proposes to select Utility Gas & Power to serve PIPP customers for a term of April 2025 to March 2028
For natural gas, Duke will transition from its current GCR default service process to a wholesale SSO auction for default service supplies, effective April 1, 2026
At other natural gas LDCs with SSO or SCO auctions, PIPP load is served by the winning suppliers in the SSO or SCO auction
Duke had issued a competitive RFP to serve PIPP customers for a term beginning April 1, 2025, and Duke reported that Utility Gas & Power was the only entity which submitted a bid in response
Duke is seeking approval for Utility Gas & Power to serve PIPP customers at the monthly NYMEX closing price plus Utility Gas & Power's bid adder of $1.69 per MMBtu, for the 3-year term
Utility Gas & Power had also filed proposals for a one-year term ($1.79 adder) or two-year term ($1.74 adder)
