ERCOT To Work On Developing Ideas For Residential Demand Response Program That Includes Financial Support From ERCOT
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
During today's Texas PUC open meeting, ERCOT CEO Pablo Vegas said that ERCOT this year will be working on ideas to develop a residential demand response program that would feature financial support from ERCOT
"We'd love to see more of a focus on residential demand response," Vegas said
"We're going to be working this year to bring forward some ideas on how to develop a residential demand response program that ERCOT would have financial support for, in order to help grow the size of the existing residential demand response programs that exist in the state today," Vegas said
"I think that's a tremendous opportunity and could be done more in a short to mid-term timeframe," Vegas said
Vegas also suggested a policy that would require large loads to be able to provide flexibility when needed for reliability
Vegas' comments came as ERCOT presented its Dec. 2024 CDR report (see related story today)
