Sheetz Receives Retail Electric Supplier License
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
The Pennsylvania PUC granted Sheetz Energy, Inc. a retail electric supplier license to serve all customer classes (including residential customers) in all service areas
Sheetz's entry into the retail electric market had been first reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com in July 2024
Although not a formal condition memorialized in Sheetz's Pennsylvania license, Sheetz had stated in its PA EGS license review that Sheetz will initially limit its service to commercial operations owned or operated by Sheetz, Inc.
Sheetz Energy had proposed that Sheetz Energy would provide 90 days' notice to the Pa. PUC prior to extending service beyond those customers cited above
Sheetz, which is known for "Made-to-Order food, premium coffee, [and] restaurant-style seating," has developed a "cult" following, with its dedicated patrons known as "Sheetz Freaks" (sometimes styled "Sheetz Freakz")
In Pennsylvania, Sheetz's presence and customer following is strongest in the western and central parts of the state (including the PPL service area), with limited coverage into the immediate Philadelphia region
Sheetz has had a fuels market share of 21% in Pennsylvania
Sheetz has approximately 700 stores in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, and West Virginia, with plans to enter Michigan
