Texas PUC Conditionally Grants REP Certificate To DRW Energy Trading
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
The Texas PUC conditionally granted an Option 2 retail electric provider certificate to DRW Energy Trading LLC
Option 2 REPs are limited to serving customers 1 MW and larger which provide an affidavit agreeing to such service
Under recent changes to the REP certification rules, Option 2 REPs are no longer required to provide such customer affidavits prior to certification, but must provide at least one eligible customer affidavit agreeing to service within 30 days of the REP certification being granted
DRW Energy's Option 2 REP certificate is thus conditioned on DRW Energy submitting, within 30 days, an affidavit from an eligible customer agreeing to take service from DRW Energy
As previously reported (more background here), DRW Energy Trading, which has been active in wholesale energy trading, is part of DRW, which has described itself as a diversified trading firm. DRW's founder and controlling shareholder, Don Wilson, was recently the subject of a profile in the London Financial Times which asked: "Is Chicago’s Don Wilson the smartest man in trading?" (Nov. 11, 2024).
