BGE Files Summer 2025 Mass Market SOS Rates
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
Baltimore Gas & Electric has filed the electricity SOS energy rate for mass market customers for the period June 1, 2025 to September 30, 2025
In doing so, BGE also updated the bypassable SOS admin. charge for the period February 1, 2025 through May 31, 2025, resulting in a slight change to the previously set mass market SOS total generation rate for this period
The energy rate reflects energy, capacity, and similar costs necessary under full requirements service, but excludes transmission costs such as NITS
The total generation rate includes the energy rate and the SOS admin. charge. The total generation rate does not include transmission or reconciliation. The transmission rate will likely be updated on June 1, 2025
As the SOS admin. charge will likely change prior to the effective date of the summer 2025 SOS rates, only the energy rate is discussed below
For rate R residential customers, the BGE energy rate for June 1, 2025 to September 30, 2025 will be 9.836 cents per kWh, marginally down from the current rate of 10.019 cents per kWh
For rate G/GU customers under Type I SOS, the BGE energy rate for June 1, 2025 to September 30, 2025 will be 9.758 cents per kWh, marginally up from the current 9.675 cents per kWh
For small customers, the changes to the SOS admin charge effective Feb. 1, 2025 reflect a difference of less than 1 mill per kWh versus the current admin. charges
Full details of the changes to the total generation rate effective Feb. 1, 2025, and the new energy rates for summer 2025, can be found here
