PSC Staff Seek Authorization To Develop Supplier Consolidated Billing Tariffs, Education Materials
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
Maryland PSC Staff have requested that the PSC authorize Staff to lead work group development of appropriate tariffs, and necessary educational materials, to implement supplier consolidated billing
As previously reported (details here), the PSC recently directed the utilities to pause work on SCB implementation, citing a lack of suppliers willing to commit to testing SCB or to using SCB
Staff noted that development of the SCB tariffs and education materials will not require utility and supplier testing (and thus there would not be additional utility testing / programming costs)
Staff's request came as Staff filed consensus proposals for updated EDI protocols (electricity) and XML transactions (gas) to implement SCB
Staff said that, upon approval of the new EDI and XML standards, the utilities and the suppliers may begin testing of the transactions necessary to implement SCB.
Due to the design of the PSC's website, the proposed EDI and XML standards can not be directly linked as currently posted, but are available under Mail log # 314339 (link to mail log search)
