The Texas PUC has advanced to a due diligence round a second project from NRG Energy representing proposed new generation to be built in ERCOT under the PUC's Texas Energy Fund (TEF) In-ERCOT Loan Program

Earlier this year, as part of an announcement of nearly 10,000 MW of generation projects from 17 applicants which were initially advanced to due diligence, a proposed 456 MW project from NRG Energy had been selected, for advancement to due diligence. This initially advanced project is understood to be NRG THW GT LLC, associated with ERCOT interconnection request 24INR0482 located in Houston, Texas

Under a PUC order issued today, a second proposed project from NRG -- this one totaling 721 MW -- has now also been approved by the PUC to proceed to the due diligence phase of the loan program. This additional NRG project is understood to be Cedar Bayou 5

The PUC also ordered that a 510 MW proposed project from WattBridge Energy IPP Holdings, LLC shall also newly advance to due diligence (WattBridge had earlier also had a separate 600 MW project advance to due diligence)
