Retail Supplier Owned By Shell Dropping Customers To Default Service
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
After a notice period, Inspire Energy Holdings, LLC will drop any remaining natural gas customers it has in Pennsylvania to default service
Currently, Inspire has 160 remaining natural gas customers in Pennsylvania.
Inspire will be sending notices to such gas customers informing the customers that Inspire is exiting the Pennsylvania natural gas market, and that if the customer does not select an alternative gas supplier within approximately 90 days of the initial notice, the customer will be returned to default service
As previously reported, Inspire assigned, "certain of its active and eligible residential gas customers," to Major Energy (owned by Via Renewables) earlier this year, including certain customers in Pennsylvania, but as noted by such phrasing, such assignment did not include the entirety of Inspire's retail gas book
Inspire will relinquish its Pennsylvania natural gas supplier license as part of its exit
Inspire will continue to serve electric customers in Pennsylvania, and the Pennsylvania natural gas customer drops to default service do not impact any Inspire customer's electricity service
Inspire Energy Holdings is ultimately owned by Shell
