NSTAR East Residential, Small C&I Default Service Rates Decreasing 15%

NSTAR d/b/a Eversource Energy filed with the Massachusetts DPU new basic service electricity rates for its Eastern Massachusetts service territory, for the period beginning February 1, 2025
All prices below include the currently effective Basic Service Adders, Renewable Portfolio Standard, Alternative Energy Portfolio Standard, Clean Energy Standard Adders, and Clean Peak Standard Adders. These adders, subject to future approval and issuance of a DPU order, typically change on or about February 1.
The filed new Nstar East fixed residential basic service rate for the period February 1, 2025 through July 31, 2025, using currently effective adders, is 13.347¢/kWh, which is about 15% lower than the current rate of 15.772¢/kWh
As of publication time, four separate retail suppliers were offering fixed rates, of at least 12 months in length, at below 13 cents per kWh on the state's EnergySwitchMA website (the Boston muni aggregation has a default rate of about 14.8 cents per kWh currently)
The filed new Nstar East fixed small C&I basic service rate for the period February 1, 2025 through July 31, 2025, using currently effective adders, is 13.184¢/kWh, which is nearly 16% lower than the current rate of 15.677¢/kWh
