Nstar Mass Market Default Service Rates Falling 15%

Default service electric rates for mass market customers in the western part of Nstar's territory in Massachusetts will fall by about 15% starting in February, under newly filed proposed rates
Nstar (Eversource) filed with the Massachusetts DPU new basic service electricity rates for its Western Massachusetts service territory (WMA), formerly WMECO, for the period beginning February 1, 2025
All prices below include the currently effective Basic Service Adders, Renewable Portfolio Standard, Alternative Energy Portfolio Standard, Clean Energy Standard, and Clean Peak Standard Adders. Nstar has a pending petition to update the adders, typically granted prior to the start of the February 1, 2025 basic service price period
The filed new WMECO fixed residential basic service rate for the period February 1, 2025 to July 31, 2025, using currently effective adders, is 11.825¢/kWh, which is about 15% lower than the current rate of 14.023¢/kWh
The filed new WMECO fixed small C&I basic service rate for the period February 1, 2025 to July 31, 2025, using currently effective adders, is 11.544¢/kWh, which is about 17% lower than the current rate of 13.982¢/kWh
