Retail Supplier To Return Customers To Default Service
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
Inspire Energy Holdings, LLC will return its remaining natural gas customers in Ohio to default service as part of Inspire exiting the Ohio natural gas market and withdrawing its Ohio gas supplier license
As first reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com, Inspire had sold a book of Ohio gas customers to a Via Renewables subsidiary (Major Energy) earlier this year, which included "certain" of Inspire's active residential gas customers
While not confirmed, it is expected that the Ohio gas customers Inspire will now be dropping to default service were not included in the book purchase by Major Energy due to the nature of the underlying product or customer characteristics
The number of natural gas customers currently served by Inspire in Ohio are as follows by service area:
• Columbia: 219
• Enbridge (f/k/a Dominion East Ohio): 79
• Duke: 55
• Vectren: 0
Affected customers may choose an alternative gas supplier before the drop becomes effective
The drops are to occur in the December 2024/January 2025 billing cycles
Inspire will continue serving electricity customers in Ohio
