The FirstEnergy Ohio utilities, in seeking an amendment to their corporate separation plan, have confirmed the cessation of operations by a competitive affiliate engaged in retail energy brokering, while also noting that the EDCs themselves have also ceased offering non-electric products and services

FirstEnergy had earlier this year noted its earlier cessation of various non-utility activities, but the newly filed amended corporate separation plan from Cleveland Electric Illuminating, Ohio Edison, and Toledo Edison provides more specifics on the breadth of such actions

Suvon, LLC, which did business as FirstEnergy Advisors and FirstEnergy Home and which offered retail energy broker services, has, "discontinued its operations," the FirstEnergy Ohio EDCs said

Dissolution of Suvon, LLC is "currently planned" for calendar year 2025, the FirstEnergy Ohio utilities said.

Suvon, LLC currently has no employees and does not market any products or services, the EDCs said

Additionally, the FirstEnergy Ohio EDCs said that they have ceased their own offering of non-electric products and services in Ohio, which they had done under the name FirstEnergy Products

Some FirstEnergy Products customers will still be billed under extended payment plans for previously rendered services, the EDCs said

In terms of the revised corporate separation plan (CSP), the FirstEnergy Ohio utilities ("Companies") would amend the CSP to state, "the Companies do not jointly advertise or jointly market with any unregulated competitive affiliate." In contrast, the current CSP provides that the EDCs do not "plan" to jointly market with a competitive affiliate, but would notify PUCO of any change in such plan

The amended CSP also strikes language stating that the EDCs, "offer a limited number of products and services other than retail electric service pursuant to existing tariff provisions and plan to continue offering the same types of products and services in the same manner." The amended CSP also strikes language stating that, "Upon customer request, the Companies may use contractors to provide other utility-related services, programs, maintenance and repairs related to customer-owned property, equipment and facilities."
