A task force addressing the Aggregate Distributed Energy Resource (ADER) pilot in ERCOT should review whether a customer may select a virtual power plant (VPP) provider that is different from the customer's retail electric provider, Commissioner Jimmy Glotfelty has said

In a memo in advance of tomorrow's PUCT open meeting, Glotfelty wrote that the ADER task force should, "look at if it is possible for a consumer to select a VPP provider that is not their Retail Electric Provider."

Furthermore, Glotfelty recommended that customers should be able to select a VPP provider independent of the customer's underlying equipment for the VPP.

Glotfelty said that one example of this situation, "is that Tesla Powerwall's [sic] can only participate in a VPP thru [sic] the Tesla Retail provider and VPP."

"This should change," Glotfelty said

Other issues raised by Glotfelty include directing the creation of a roadmap to achieve the original goal of 80 MW for the ADER pilot, and beyond, and also addressing how does the program change to allow large units, across ERCOT zones, to be included
