TDU Says Texas PUC Has Ordered New Disconnection Moratorium For Counties Included In Gov.'s Disaster Declaration
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
AEP Texas said in a market notice that the Public Utility Commission of Texas has "ordered" AEP Texas to issue a weather disconnect for non-pay moratorium until July 26 for all counties listed in Governor Greg Abbott’s [sic] July 6, 2024 Proclamation.
Dan Patrick, Acting Governor, had issued on July 6 an amended Hurricane Beryl disaster proclamation, listing the included counties, as linked here
As of publication time, it was not immediately confirmed if the PUC ordered a similar extended DNP moratorium for other TDUs affected by Hurricane Beryl
The July 26 DNP moratorium date is beyond the most recent market-communicated disaster-related DNP moratorium date for either CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric or Texas-New Mexico Power, as of publication time
CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric included in a market notice issued at approximately 5:13 pm local time on July 18 that, "DNPs are suspended through Friday July 19, 2024, under a Force Majeure moratorium." No reference was made to any extended PUC-ordered moratorium, if any
