Texas state
Senator Borris Miles requested that the Texas PUC implement an electricity disconnection moratorium, "on all disconnections for residents and
businesses in cities and counties affected by Hurricane Beryl."
In a letter to the PUC, Miles did not propose an end date for any moratorium (neither a specific date nor expressed as an amount of days after complete service restoration)
Miles wrote, "We, as a State, cannot blame anyone for missed payments if there is no power at their home or place of work," as Miles urged that the PUC, "make sure that people don't get disconnected due to circumstances beyond their control."
As previously reported,
CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric suspended disconnections for non-pay under a Force Majeure moratorium through Friday July 19, 2024.
On July 15, after publication of our most recent update, Texas-New Mexico Power further extended its DNP moratorium in Brazoria, Galveston and Matagorda counties through Wednesday, July 17, 2024
