PUC Revokes License Of Defunct Retail Supplier
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
The Pennsylvania PUC issued an order revoking the retail electric supplier license of Liberty Power Holdings, LLC
As previously reported, Liberty Power Holdings, LLC declared bankruptcy in 2021 and ceased retail supplier operations as part of such process, with customers disposed of in different manners.
Liberty Power Holdings in 2022 had sought to abandon its Pennsylvania EGS license, stating that it no longer served customers in the state
The PUC said in its revocation order that, even after application of proceeds from Liberty Power Holdings's bond, "Liberty Power Holdings still had outstanding AEPS Act obligations totaling $1,171,258.10 from compliance year 2021-2022 and $225 from compliance year 2022-2023."
Given what the PUC found to be violations of the AEPS regulations due to such non-payment, the PUC found that approving abandonment of Liberty Power Holdings's EGS license was not appropriate.
Rather, the PUC revoked Liberty Power Holdings's EGS license based on the AEPS violations, as well as failure to maintain a bond after Liberty Power Holdings's prior security expired in 2022
