NRG Provides Notice To Texas PUC Of Intent To Terminate Voluntary Mitigation Plan
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
NRG Texas Power, LLC and its generation affiliate NRG Cedar Bayou Development Company LLC (collectively, "NRG") filed with the Texas PUC a notice of NRG’s intent to terminate its Voluntary Mitigation Plan (VMP) as of March 1, 2024.
NRG said, "The Commission initially approved NRG’s VMP on July 13, 2012, approved NRG’s first amended VMP on July 11, 2014, and most recently amended the VMP again on March 23, 2023. According to each of the Commission’s orders approving NRG’s VMP and the subsequent amendments, the 'VMP shall remain in effect from the date it is approved by the Commission until terminated by the executive director or his designee or by NRG.' Consistent with the voluntary nature of a VMP, although the Commission’s orders require Commission ratification for a termination initiated by the Executive Director, the orders do not require Commission approval or ratification for a termination initiated by NRG. Thus, as permitted by the orders approving the original VMP and amended VMPs, NRG hereby notifies you that it is exercising its right to terminate the VMP effective March 1, 2024."
