Retail Energy Regulator Moves To Formally Close COVID In-Person Sales Moratorium Proceedings
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
The Illinois Commerce Commission has issued proposed orders to close proceedings addressing its prior COVID-19 emergency orders governing in-person electricity and natural gas sales
The orders' effectiveness had already been nullified.
Specifically, the orders had expressly stated (in substantially similar language) that they would, "remain in force and effect for the duration of the public health emergency
declared by the Governor."
The ICC noted in its proposed orders that, as the public health emergency was declared
ended on May 11, 2023, the Emergency Orders no longer have any force or effect.
Thus the ICC proposed to close the proceedings and note that the orders have been rendered moot
