Utility Makes Filing Regarding Potential Exit From Merchant Function
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
In compliance with a prior order, Columbia Gas of Ohio made a filing with the PUC of Ohio regarding, "a potential modification or exit by Columbia from the merchant function for non-residential customers."
In the filing, Columbia is not seeking either a potential modification or exit of the merchant function,
Rather, Columbia's filing was made to comply with a deadline to make a filing regarding such issues, and to report on developments at a task force which has been reviewing such issues
Columbia reported, "Columbia convened the Taskforce, which met on a monthly basis throughout calendar year 2023, and its last meeting was held on January 12, 2024. The Taskforce discussed a proposal to exit the merchant function for non-residential customers over several meetings, along with other ancillary topics, but at the conclusion of the Taskforce meetings on January 12, 2024, there was not a consensus agreement in the Taskforce with this proposal."
