Regulator Advances Adoption Of New Security Requirements For Retail Suppliers, Over $2 Million Potentially Required For Large Suppliers

The Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (Authority or PURA) has advanced its intention to adopt new regulations concerning electric supplier licensing, with the process now formally moving to the Secretary of State
As previously reported, PURA decided on final proposed rule language for the revisions in September.
PURA has now formally noticed the proposed revisions and a public comment period under the Secretary of State review process has been opened. There is no change in the rule language from the previously reported revisions posted in September

Among other things, the proposed rules include new financial security requirements for all retail suppliers that are generally higher than the existing rule, a more frequent license review process, new cybersecurity requirements applicable to both suppliers and their third-party agents, and new rules for PURA's shopping rate board as well as for suppliers' own websites
