The following story is brought free of charge to readers by VertexOne, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
Start-up Base Texas REP, LLC has formally filed for an Option 1 Texas retail electric provider certificate
As exclusively first reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com (story here), the governing person of Base Texas REP, LLC is Base Power, Inc., the previously reported start-up whose management includes Zach Dell
Base Texas REP, LLC has named Zac Lowder as Head of Retail Energy. Lowder previously held senior executive positions at a retail supplier
As previously reported, Zach Dell is listed as CEO, President, and director of Base Power, Inc. in a filing, dated July 17, 2023, made with the Texas Secretary of State
As previously reported, Justin Lopas has been identified as COO and co-founder of Base Power, Inc., and is similarly identified as COO and co-founder of the entity Base Texas REP, LLC in the REP application
As first reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com, a website for "Base Power Company" is said to be accepting preorders for a retail energy plan that includes in the bundle a 40 kWh Home Base battery, for a cost of only $1,500 for installation. The website lists comparable batteries as costing $15,000
The website now states, "Base is coming to your area in mid to late 2024! Availability is limited so place a preorder to reserve your Base battery."
"Base offers a new way to power your home
as the only energy provider that includes backup power. Only pay $1,500 for installation," the website states
In an FAQ concerning the low upfront cost of the battery, the Base Power Company site states, "Base is developing a battery network to enhance the power grid's stability by discharging, or selling, at times of peak need. By installing a battery at your home, you contribute to this network, and in return, we offer backup power without high upfront costs."
Base Texas REP, LLC applied to use the trade names Base, Base Power, and Base Power Company in its REP application
Base Texas REP, LLC did not seek authorization to collect customer deposits or prepayments as part of the REP application
