Texas PUC Staff Propose New Interest Rates Applicable To Deposits Held By REPs, Overcharges (Over 250% Increase)

Staff of the Texas PUC have proposed new interest rates to be applicable to REP deposits and over-billings, consistent with the calculations set forth by rule, calculated pursuant to the process set forth in the PUC's rules
The interest rate, for calendar-year 2024, on deposits held by REPs is proposed to be set at 4.86 percent. The rate currently in effect is 1.36 percent.
The interest rate, for calendar-year 2024, for overbillings and certain underbillings by a REP is proposed to be set at 4.90 percent. The rate currently in effect is 1.19 percent.
