Update: Bankrupt Retail Supplier Confirms Return Of Certain Customers To Default Service, Will Continue To Serve Some C&I Customers

Talen Energy Marketing, LLC, which is part of the bankruptcy proceeding of Talen Energy Supply, LLC, confirmed to regulators in Ohio, Maryland, and the District of Columbia that it will return its non-affiliated retail customers to default service
Notably, in Pennsylvania, Talen Energy Marketing told the Pennsylvania PUC that it has rejected "certain" customer contracts, and such affected customers will be returned to default service
Talen Energy Marketing further said that, in Pennsylvania, the company, "intends to maintain its electric generation supplier license for service to certain
commercial and industrial customers as it emerges from bankruptcy."
Talen Energy Marketing did not specifically identify these Pennsylvania C&I customers to whom it would continue to provide service as affiliates
This is consistent with Talen Energy Supply's disclosure, exclusively first reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com yesterday, that it was seeking to reject "substantially" all unaffiliated commercial, industrial, and institutional customer counterparties (retail electric contracts), as opposed to rejecting "all" unaffiliated contracts
As previously reported, Talen Energy Marketing also intends to keep its retail licenses in those jurisdictions where it will maintain limited retail power sales necessary for operation of its affiliated power plants
