Community Energy Inc. (CEI) intends to transfer to default service any residential customers in Pennsylvania which are not included in a customer book assignment

"CEI presently serves residential customers in the service territories of PPL, PECO, West Penn Power and Duquesne Light Co. CEI intends to assign certain of those customers to another electric generation supplier, but a limited number of contracts are not subject to that agreement and instead will be returned to default service," CEI said in a filing

As exclusively first reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com, CEI will assign some of its Pennsylvania customer contracts, located in the PECO and PPL territories, to the Energy Cooperative Association of Pennsylvania, d/b/a The Energy Co-op. It was not explicit whether this is the assignment CEI is referencing in the quoted disclosure above

Concerning the return of customers to default service, CEI said that, "It is expected that customers (39 in PPL, 96 in PECO, 99 in Duquesne, and 7 in West Penn) will be switched commencing on August 2, 2022," to the extent the customers do not select another EGS in response to CEI's notice concerning the default service transfer.

"At this juncture, CEI does not intend to seek abandonment of its license or its ability to continue to serve customers in any service territory," CEI said
