NRG Energy has acquired all of the Texas electric customers of Iberdrola Solutions LLC d/b/a Iberdrola Texas

The acquired customers were receiving 100 percent renewable electricity and will be served by NRG's Green Mountain Energy brand.

Green Mountain Energy will honor the terms of the acquired customers' current contracts

"We look forward to welcoming them to Green Mountain Energy," NRG said in a statement concerning the acquired customers.

As first reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com, an adopted stipulation which approved the merger of the parent of Texas-New Mexico Power and Avangrid provided that, within six months of the closing of the TNMP-Avangrid transaction, neither Iberdrola nor Avangrid will own or control any customer facing competitive affiliates in ERCOT including retail electric providers, brokers, or aggregators, thus necessitating Iberdrola Texas' exit from the Texas retail electric market.
