The following story is brought free of charge to readers by EC Infosystems, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
Today, the Texas House of Representatives read for a first time, and referred to the State Affairs committee, SB 2142, a bill passed by the Senate that would order the PUC to re-price ERCOT wholesale power and ancillary services prices for the period beginning 11:55 p.m., February 17, 2021, and ending 9 a.m., February 19, 2021
See background on the bill here
Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick had on March 16 told Senators, reacting to a statement from Speaker of the House of Representatives Dade Phelan, that the House had indicated that it would not take up the bill, which has already passed the Senate
However, Phelan later released a statement on March 16 stating that, at such time, he had not had any conversations with Patrick about the bill, as Phelan further said that he would refer the bill to a committee with appropriate jurisdiction, per House rules
As previously reported, Phelan set forth his opposition to the bill in a statement on March 16
Yesterday, Rep. Trey Martinez Fischer had sought to make a motion to convene the House as "a committee of the whole" to debate SB 2142, but the motion was not recognized by Phelan.
