Start-Up Texas Retail Provider Begins Offering Service, Will Pay Customer's ETF Up To $150
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by EC Infosystems, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
Start-up Rhythm has begun offering residential electric service in Texas
Rhythm's creation by several former retail energy market veterans had been first reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com last year
In the Oncor service area, Rhythm is offering residential customers fixed plans with 12, 24, and 36-month term lengths. All plans are 100% Texas wind RECs
Rhythm's TX Breeze (100% wind) 12-month plan for residential customers in the Oncor service area has an all-in average price, at 1,000 kWh, of 10.1 cents per kWh, which reflects an Energy Charge of 5.807¢ per kWh and Oncor delivery charges of 3.922¢ per kWh and $3.42 per month
Rhythm's plans include a 90-Day "Easy Energy Promise", under which the customer can terminate the plan within the first 90 days without penalty. After such time, an early termination fee of $10 per month remaining on the contract applies
Rhythm said that new and renewing customers get the same rates. "We don’t do too-good-to-be-true intro rates, and we do not jack-up existing customer rates. Instead, we welcome new customers and show appreciation for renewing customers by giving everyone access to the same great rates. We call it Fair-for-All Pricing," the company states on its website
Further discussing what occurs at renewal, Rhythm states on its website, "Some energy companies take the end of customer contracts as an opportunity to jack-up rates. Not us. If you renew with us, we’ll offer you a selection of affordable fixed rate plans to choose from. And, if you forget to renew, we’ll switch you over to the same variable rate plan new customers have access to and your service will continue uninterrupted."
Rhythm also offers a rewards program under which customers earn points for using auto-pay, enrolling in e-bill, and referring a friend. Points can be applied towards the customer's bill
Rhythm will also compensate new customers for their early termination fee with their current REP, up to $150. Customers pay the ETF and then may claim compensation from Rhythm, paid through an equal amount of rewards (which are redeemable for bill credits)
Rhythm also offers a distributed renewable generation buy-back program. Rhythm will purchase the excess electricity at the customer's contracted energy charge via Rhythm Rewards. The reward points received can be redeemed towards the customer's monthly bill.
