The Public Utility Commission of Texas granted OhmConnect Texas LLC an Option 1 Texas retail electric provider certificate

OhmConnect's intent to expand into retail energy supply had been exclusively first reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com last year (see story here)

As part of its Texas REP certificate, OhmConnect received authority to use the trade name "PowerPass."

OhmConnect currently provides payments and other rewards for demand response or other smart energy usage, with its service offered in California. In addition to payments for certain peak events, the company engages customers through the year via gamification, awarding points for various behaviors

OhmConnect had also offered its service in Texas but last year "paused" its "#OhmHours" in Texas, and had said that the OhmConnect experience is currently on hold for Smart Meter Texas

However, OhmConnect said in a Texas customer communication late last year that, "We are busy building a better #OhmHour experience for you! We'll keep you updated as something new launches."

Under its Texas REP certificate, OhmConnect received authority to collect deposits or advance payments from customers
