As part of newly filed rate cases, New York State Electric & Gas Corporation (NYSEG) and Rochester Gas and Electric Corporation (RG&E) (collectively, the Companies) have petitioned the New York PSC for approval of the territory-wide deployment of advanced metering infrastructure for their electricity and gas meters
The territory-wide deployment, occurring from 2020 to 2024, would include installation of approximately 1.9 million smart devices, comprised of
1.3 million new electric meters and 600,000 modules to be retrofitted on existing gas meters
The utilities had previously proposed a territory-wide AMI deployment in 2016 but such request remained pending without final adjudication
As part of the AMI plan, the Companies will use Green Button Connect and, "propose using a Third Party portal to download data,
manage customer lists, and send customers personalized results of services. Third Parties
will collect energy usage data in a standard format to promote their services and
platforms. The Companies will use standardized and secure means (.CSV and .XML) to
share customer energy usage information."
Under AMI, the Companies propose 15-minute data intervals for commercial and industrial ('C&I')
customers and hourly intervals for residential customers
