NY PSC Approves Territory-Wide Deployment Of Smart Meters At ConEd; Directs Utility To Work With ESCOs on Data Access
The New York PSC has approved the territory-wide deployment of advanced meters for electric and natural gas customers at Consolidated Edison, subject to a cap on capital expenditures of $1.285 billion
Territory-wide deployment is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2022.
Deployment is to begin in 2017 on Staten Island and, in Q4, Westchester, with Brooklyn and Manhattan deployment beginning in 2018, and Bronx and Queens deployment beginning in 2019.
ConEd was directed to file with the PSC Secretary no later than July 29, 2016 a customer engagement plan including a formal privacy assessment, formal data access and privacy policies, Green Button Connect My Data implementation, and data privacy and access principles
In developing such filing, the PSC directed ConEd to, "actively collaborate with ESCOs, DER providers, and other stakeholders."
In addition, ConEdison, "is to ensure that ESCOs have access to AMI data though the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), as the ESCOs have made significant investments in their EDI systems," the PSC said
