The significant migration of Type I customers at Baltimore Gas & Electric back to SOS supply witnessed in June did not continue in July, as migration essentially held steady during the month, according to the latest data from the Maryland PSC.
Link to Matters' comparison of select statistics (compares total accounts migrated as well as percent of accounts migrated in July 2011 vs. June 2011).
As only reported by Matters, BGE saw a net of nearly 4,700 Type I accounts migrate back to SOS during the month of June (see 7/18). As a result, Type I migrated accounts at BGE for the month ending June 2011 were 28,382.
For the month ending July 2011, Type I migration at BGE was 28,426 accounts, indicating that the net loss in migrated accounts has abated (at least for July, August data has not been posted yet).
The marginal growth in BGE Type I migration of 44 accounts from June to July is still far off the monthly Type I migration growth of 300-500 accounts seen in early 2011.
Residential migration growth continues to be strong at BGE and Pepco.
From June to July, BGE recorded net residential migration growth of 8,250 accounts, essentially even with the June growth, and in the range experienced for most of 2011.
At Pepco, residential migration growth from June to July was 4,400, up from 3,300 in June. Prior to June, Pepco residential migration growth had been in the range of 2,000 accounts per month for much of 2011.
Delmarva residential migration growth from June to July was over 1,400 accounts, even with growth during June.
After seeing monthly residential migration growth of over of 600 accounts in recent months, residential migration growth at Potomac Edison (FirstEnergy) slowed to under 100 for the month of July.
Residential migration as a percent of accounts as of July 2011 was:
BGE: 21.6%
