MXenergy to Match Lowest 12-Month Gas Rate for Metro-Atlanta Customers

MXenergy announced that it will match the lowest, published 12-month fixed natural gas rate for new residential customers in the Atlanta market through September 5.
The product is only available to new MXenergy customers in the metro Atlanta area. Should a customer find a lower published standard 12-month fixed rate for new residential customers by September 5, 2011, MXenergy will either meet or beat the published rate.
MXenergy's current 12-month fixed rate for new customers under the promotion is 63.9 cents per therm, as quoted on MXenergy's website. The plan also carries a monthly fee of $5.95.
The product also includes a $150 early termination fee.
MXenergy said that its 12-month fixed rate is the lowest among "leading natural gas providers" -- specifically citing Georgia Natural Gas (SouthStar), SCANA Energy, Gas South, and Infinite Energy (which of the four has the lowest publicly posted rate of 72.9 cents per therm), based on Aug. 6 pricing posted by the Georgia PSC.
