Mirabito Energy Products has created a New York ESCO, and intends to commence service prior to this winter.
Mirabito Energy Products currently acts as a broker, serving approximately 500 natural gas and electric customers, whom it has placed with various ESCOs.
Mirabito, which offers a variety of fuels, energy products, and services, also owns and operates 54 convenience stores and gas stations in central New York.
The convenience stores, under the Mirabito, Quickway, and Convenience Express brands, offer a rewards program which can also be linked to the customer's home heat purchases from Mirabito.
All of Mirabito Energy Products' currently brokered electric and gas customers are within New York State in the NYSEG, Rochester Gas & Electric, and National Grid service areas.
Mirabito's disclosure of its new ESCO subsidiary came in a filing at the New York PSC in which Mirabito is seeking to increase its share of Corning Natural Gas Corporation voting capital stock from 9.58% to a level up to but not exceeding 15%. Under Section 70(4) of the Public Service Law, PSC approval is required for the acquisition by certain entities, including corporations, of more than 10% of the voting capital stock of any gas corporation or electric corporation.
In describing its various businesses in the petition, Mirabito reported that, in the fall of 2010, it created a new subsidiary, Mirabito Natural Gas LLC, and sought an ESCO license from the New York PSC.
Mirabito Natural Gas is currently completing ESCO Electronic Data Interchange testing and is planning on serving customers on the NYSEG, Rochester Gas & Electric, National Grid, and Corning systems prior to the winter of 2011-12.
Mirabito Energy Products also offers heating oil, propane, coal, gasoline, diesel fuels, biodiesel, commercial fuels, kerosene, and lubricants for residential and commercial customers.
In addition, it offers home heating equipment and air conditioning equipment, as well as installation and service.
Mirabito also offers installation of distributed solar generation.
Its convenience store footprint is growing, recently announcing a development agreement with Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop under which Mirabito will open 44 co-branded convenience and gas locations throughout upstate New York by 2012, with the vast majority of locations anticipated to open in 2011.
Mirabito is based in Binghamton, New York, with regional offices in Vestal, Norwich, Oneonta, Syracuse, Greene, Walton, and Albany.
