Email This Story
Retail gas marketer SCANA Energy reported a narrowed seasonal loss for the second quarter, with the improvement due to favorable weather.
For the quarter ending June 30, 2011, SCANA Energy recorded a net loss of $2.9 million, versus a loss of $5.9 million a year ago.
This improvement was driven primarily by increased margins due to cooler weather early in the quarter compared to the year-ago quarter, which led to higher consumption, as well from lower operating expenses.
At June 30, 2011, SCANA Energy was serving approximately 460,000 customers, even with March 31, 2011, and up versus the 450,000 served as of June 30, 2010.
The total of 460,000 customers maintains SCANA Energy's position as the second largest natural gas marketer in Georgia.
Retail gas marketing revenues were higher at $77.8 million for the second quarter of 2008, versus $73.9 million a year ago.
