A bill which has been introduced to exempt Michigan schools from the 10% electric choice cap has "no traction" and has "not gone anywhere," CMS Energy President and CEO John Russell said on an earnings call yesterday.
CMS Energy is the parent of Consumers Energy.
"[T]here seems to be little interest in the legislature to move forward," with the bill, Russell said, stating that the bill, "was promoted by out-of-state third-party marketers."
Russell further said that Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder is "very supportive" of the current choice cap law, and "doesn't have any plans to change the law."
"[T]his administration sees us more as an economic development partner to help grow Michigan, make investments, and move the state and business forward," Russell said.
