Direct Energy has been selected by the Village of New Lenox and the City of Crest Hill, Illinois, to supply electricity to the municipalities' opt-out aggregation program.

The aggregation, covering residential and small business customers, will provide fixed pricing through the September 2013 billing cycle.

For the October 2011 through September 2013 billing cycles, New Lenox and Crest Hill electricity consumers will pay a price of 5.89 cents per kWh for generation. Senior citizens are eligible for a discounted price of 5.79 cents per kWh.

Direct Energy will also offer aggregation customers a renewable wind product at a price of 6.19 cents per kWh for customers affirmatively selecting the plan.

Lenox and Crest Hill are in the ComEd service area.

Additionally, according to the Kane County Chronicle, the Village of Sugar Grove, in the ComEd territory, approved an opt-out aggregation supply agreement with Direct Energy for about 6 cents per kWh through December 2013.

Direct won the Sugar Grove agreement through a process managed by the Northern Illinois Municipal Electric Cooperative. Direct was also selected by NIMEC to supply five other municipal aggregations.
