BlueStar Energy Solutions Lists Ameren Residential Offer on PlugIn Illinois
BlueStar Energy Solutions has added its residential offers at Ameren to the PlugIn Illinois rate board, with a 12-month fixed offer of 5.1750 cents per kWh in all rate zones. The product includes an early termination fee of $10 per month remaining on the contract. BlueStar said that renewable options are also available, but did not list them on the rate board. BlueStar has been offering supply to residential customers at Ameren for some time.
Ameresco Acquires Applied Energy Group
Ameresco, Inc. has acquired Applied Energy Group, a privately held company providing energy efficiency and demand side management consulting services, for an undisclosed sum. In addition to its various demand-side service, Applied Energy Group also has a retail operations line of business, which has included various backoffice support and services for competitive suppliers.
Brooklyn Chamber Recommends Hess Small Business Services as Preferred Supplier
The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce has announced its recommendation of Hess Small Business Services as preferred supplier of both electricity and natural gas supplies for Chamber members through the Chamber's Energy Alliance group buying program. The Chamber's Energy Alliance program is managed in partnership with EnergyNext, Inc. Hess offers electric and gas to small businesses in the New York City metro area and natural gas in New Jersey. Hess affirmed its previously reported intent to expand its small business energy services in 2011 to offer natural gas in all areas of New Jersey as well as electricity and natural gas in upstate New York.
Proposed Order on Met-Ed/Penelec Referral Program Withdrawn
The Pennsylvania PUC's law bureau withdrew a proposed order regarding the customer referral programs at Met-Ed and Penelec from consideration at yesterday's meeting (see 7/14)
Pa. PUC Denies Stranded Cost Refund Petition
The Pennsylvania PUC said yesterday that it has dismissed a petition from several industrials and consumer groups seeking an investigation into and potential refunds of the stranded cost recovery previously granted to the electric distribution companies. A written order was not published yesterday (P-2010-2195426).
Calif. PUC Rejects Extension of Relief from CHP Stranded Costs to Direct Access Customers
The California PUC yesterday affirmed a proposed decision and declined to grant direct access and community choice aggregation customers relief from certain stranded costs associated with required utility purchases of combined heat and power. Such relief was only granted to municipal departing load customers under a settlement among the utilities, munis, and other parties. The PUC did clarify that any costs resulting from the relief granted to municipal departing load shall not be assessed to bundled, direct access, or community choice aggregation customers, and that such costs shall be the responsibility of the various settling parties (A. 08-11-001).
