Dominion Retail, Nicor Enter Partnership to Offer Supply at ComEd as Nicor Electric
July 11, 2011
Email This Story
Dominion Retail and Nicor Inc. have entered into a partnership under which they will market electricity at Commonwealth Edison as Nicor Electric.
Nicor will market the electricity offers and provide customer service using its call center. Dominion Retail will be the load serving entity, using the Nicor Electric trade name under a licensing agreement.
Service will initially be limited to ComEd, with offers for both residential and small commercial customers.
Marketing materials for the initial offers are slated to be sent out at the end of July. While pricing is not finalized, Nicor anticipates that the residential price will offer 10-15% savings versus ComEd.
Nicor Electric will be the 11th active supplier in the ComEd residential (non-aggregation) market, joining Ambit Energy, BlueStar Energy Solutions, Champion Energy Services, Constellation Energy, Direct Energy, Energy Plus Holdings, LLC, Integrys Energy Services, Interstate Gas Supply, Nordic Energy Services, and Spark Energy. Viridian Energy will make it an even dozen with its previously reported August 1 launch for ComEd residential service (6/16).
