ARM Seeks Intervention in AEP Retail Energy REP Certificate Docket
The Alliance for Retail Markets has moved to intervene in the proceeding addressing AEP Texas Commercial & Industrial Limited Partnership's application to amend its Texas REP certificate from an Option 2 REP to an Option 1 REP (Only in Matters, 6/20). ARM reiterated its prior concerns (2/16) that allowing AEP Texas Commercial & Industrial Limited Partnership to retain the AEP name as an Option 1 REP, "has the significant potential of placing other REPs at a disadvantage in the competitive retail electric market, particularly in the two AEP service areas."
Green Mountain Energy Signs SoftLayer Technologies
SoftLayer Technologies, which offers cloud and related hosting services, said that it has signed an agreement to purchase renewable energy from Green Mountain Energy Company for its data centers in Dallas and Houston. Beginning in October 2011, SoftLayer will purchase more than 10 million kilowatt-hours of Texas wind power to offset 10 percent of the electricity for three of its Dallas data centers and three of its Houston data centers.
