June 16, 2011
Email This Story
Nearly 300 GWh of direct access load has opened up at Southern California Edison, the utility has informed customers, allowing some customers to switch prior to Phase 3 of the expansion of direct access.
SCE's notice to customers of the new space under the direct access load cap was first reported by Constellation Energy on its Energy4Business blog.
SCE informed customers who had been accepted to take direct access service starting in January 2012 under Phase 3 of the expansion that up to 279 GWh of load is now available under the cap for service beginning in September 2011.
SCE is informing customers of the additional space in the same order as SCE originally accepted their Phase 3 Notices of Intent.
Customers must inform SCE whether they wish to avail themselves of the additional space by June 30. Customers passing on the ability to accelerate their switch to direct access may still take direct access starting in January 2012 as originally provided.
SCE will begin accepting Direct Access Service Requests on August 1, for direct access supply to begin with the September 2011 meter read.
