NextEra Energy Services Seeks Ohio Gas License
NextEra Energy Services Ohio, LLC applied for an Ohio natural gas supplier license to serve all customer classes, including residential customers, in all service areas. Affiliate NextEra Energy Power Marketing, LLC is currently providing gas supply to over 100,000 Ohio customers through the Columbia Gas of Ohio SSO program, but does not have a retail license required for participation in the Standard Choice Offer process. NextEra said that affiliate Gexa Energy serves over 120,000 residential and commercial customers in Texas, and that various NextEra affiliates serve 40,000 customer accounts in Maine, Massachusetts, Washington, D.C., Illinois, Connecticut, Maryland, New Jersey, Delaware, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, and New Hampshire.
Texas Retail Energy Seeks Maine Electric License
Texas Retail Energy, LLC applied for a Maine competitive electricity provider license to serve affiliated Wal-Mart properties and related facilities at the three investor-owned utilities. Texas Retail Energy, LLC also has a pending supplier license in New Jersey, in addition to the previously reported states of Maryland and Ohio (4/5, 5/17).
Clearview Electric Applies for Illinois Electric License
Clearview Electric Inc. has again applied for an Illinois alternative retail electric supplier license to serve all customer classes in all service areas. Clearview twice submitted an ARES application during 2010, but withdrew it shortly after filing in each instance.
ConocoPhillips Receives Expanded Maryland Gas License
The Maryland PSC granted ConocoPhillips Company an amended natural gas supplier license to include service to commercial customers in all service areas.
Rhoads Energy Corporation Receives Expanded Pa. Gas License
The Pennsylvania PUC granted Rhoads Energy Corporation an amended natural gas supplier license to include service to industrial and governmental customers at UGI Utilities, in addition to residential and commercial customers. The application for the amendment was first reported in Matters (3/22).
Cokinos Natural Gas Receives Pennsylvania License
The Pennsylvania PUC granted Cokinos Energy Corporation d/b/a Cokinos Natural Gas Company a natural gas supplier license to serve industrial customers at UGI Utilities, Inc. and Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania. The application was first reported in Matters (3/24)
Smith Energy Group Receives Pa. Broker License
The Pennsylvania PUC granted MobileNET, Inc. (d/b/a Smith Energy Group) an electric broker/marketer license to serve all customer classes in all service areas. The application was first reported in Matters (4/18). MobileNET currently offers communications consulting in Pennsylvania.
Blue Pilot Energy Receives Pa. Broker License
The Pennsylvania PUC granted Blue Pilot Energy, LLC an electric broker/marketer and aggregator license to serve all customer classes in all service areas. Blue Pilot Energy is an affiliate of several telecomm firms including NOS Communications, Blue Ridge Telecom Systems, LLC, and Affinity Networks, Inc. The application was first reported in Matters (2/7).
Unity Electric Discount Receives Pa. Broker License
The Pennsylvania PUC granted Unity Electric Discount, LLC an electric broker/marketer license to serve all customer classes at PECO. The application was first reported in Matters (5/31).
ArcelorMittal Receives Pa. Electric License
The Pennsylvania PUC granted ArcelorMittal USA LLC an electric generation supplier license to serve only its affiliated load at PECO, PPL, and West Penn Power. The application was first reported by Matters (3/31).
