PPL EnergyPlus Surpasses 10,000 Residential Customers
PPL EnergyPlus has surpassed 10,000 residential electric customers at PPL Electric Utilities and PECO, it recently told Matters. PPL EnergyPlus has been offering residential electric supply in the two territories for just over a month (see 5/4)
Connecticut Portfolio Management Bill Heading to Governor
The Connecticut House of Representatives yesterday passed SB1243 in concurrence with the Senate. Gov. Dannel Malloy is expected to sign the legislation, which, among other things, requires a managed portfolio for standard service, and includes new customer protections for retail electric supply. TXU Creates iPhone App for Payments
TXU Energy has launched a free app for the iPhone allowing customers to pay bills and choose payment options. There is no additional fee for using the app for payment. TXU said that it is the only electricity retailer in Texas to offer customers mobile access to their accounts through an app for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Customers will be able to use the app for additional account features over time, TXU said.
Corbett Names Pamela Witmer to Pa. PUC
Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett has nominated Pamela Witmer as a member of the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission. If confirmed by the Senate, Witmer will succeed Commissioner Tyrone Christy, whose term on the PUC has expired. Witmer currently leads the energy and environment practice for Harrisburg-based Bravo Group, a governmental and public relations firm. From 2000 to 2007, she was president and CEO of the Pennsylvania Chemical Industry Council.
NYISO, ISO-NE to Hold Competition Symposium
The New York ISO and ISO New England will jointly host an energy symposium in New York City on November 1, 2011 to discuss the evolving role of competition and innovation in the Northeast electricity markets.
