FirstEnergy Solutions to Supply Fulton, Illinois Opt-Out Aggregation
FirstEnergy Solutions has been selected by the City of Fulton, Illinois to supply the city's opt-out aggregation program through July 2014. Several municipalities in Illinois have formed opt-out aggregations, and Fulton's is the first to have a definitive supplier agreement with pricing formally announced. Residential customers will receive a fixed price of 6.23 cents per kWh and small businesses will receive a fixed price of 6.04 cents per kWh. FirstEnergy Solutions will also make a one-time grant of approximately $13,000 to the city.
Spark Energy Launches Affinity Program with Helping a Hero
Spark Energy has launched an affinity program in conjunction with Helping a Hero, which provides assistance to military personnel severely injured in the war on terror. Customers enrolling under Spark's Power for Heroes program will have a portion of their bill donated to Helping a Hero every month, which will be used for initiatives to aid veterans injured in the war on terror, such as providing specially adapted homes, mentorship, career help, and financial support. The program, open to customers in ERCOT, offers a fixed rate for 14 months.
Viridian Energy Enters Affinity Partnership with La Salle Athletics
Viridian Energy has entered into an affinity partnership with La Salle University Athletics under which Viridian will support La Salle student-athletes for enrollments under the program. The affinity program is open to residential and commercial customers in all of Viridian's active markets (Connecticut, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania).
GSA Extends Contract with Constellation Energy
Constellation Energy has been awarded a new federal contract to continue to provide electricity and renewable energy supply to more than 146 federal and institutional accounts in Washington, D.C. Under terms of the three-year contract with the General Services Administration, Constellation Energy will supply 1.72 million megawatt-hours of electricity per year to federal sites that include the U.S. Capitol, Kennedy Center, Smithsonian Institution, GSA and the Federal Reserve, as well as the Departments of Justice, Labor, Interior, Transportation and Treasury. The contract, which renews the current two-year agreement, calls for Constellation Energy to provide 5 percent renewable energy in the first year and 7.5 percent in the remaining years through renewable energy certificates. Constellation Energy will supply more than 115,000 RECs annually.
Vacancy at Maryland PSC as Goldsmith Named Insurance Commissioner
Therese Goldsmith, Public Service Commissioner in Maryland, has been named by Governor Martin O'Malley as Maryland Insurance Commissioner, effective June 13. No replacement on the PSC has yet been named.
