As of March 31, 2011, the number of residential customers who have switched to an alternative retail electric supplier at Commonwealth Edison was 1,862, ComEd informed Matters yesterday.
The total, the most recent available from ComEd, only includes completed switches, and is about 0.05% of residential accounts.
The Illinois Commerce Commission has also posted full electric migration statistics for ComEd and Ameren for the months of January and February 2011.
The progression of residential migration at ComEd has been as follows: 1,106 customers as of December 31, 2010; 1,188 as of January 31, 2011; 1,237 as of February 28, 2011; and 1,862 as of March 31, 2011.
The majority of the eight active residential suppliers at ComEd entered the market in February or later, and switching may take up to two billing cycles.
The under 100 kW commercial class at ComEd saw only modest growth of 2,000 migrated accounts from December 2010 through the end of February 2011 as well, with migration standing at 17.55% of accounts as of the end of February.
Meanwhile, migration in the 100-400 kW class at ComEd remains flat at 64.5% of customers as of February 28, 2011, not even a full half percentage point higher than versus December 31, 2010.
Residential migration at each of the three Ameren Rate Zones is under 100 accounts as of the end of February.
