Retail Gas Suppliers Seek Additional Time for PGW Alternative Default Service Proposal

Dominion Retail and Interstate Gas Supply have requested that the Pennsylvania PUC provide retail gas suppliers with an additional 60 days prior to notifying the PUC of whether they wish to continue the evaluation of replacing Philadelphia Gas Works as the default supplier (R-2008-2073938).

As only noted in Matters, the PUC, having found that an existing working group on the matter had reached an impasse, directed suppliers to submit a formal, detailed proposal meeting various statutory requirements of default service if they wished to continue the question of replacing PGW as the default supplier in a formal Commission proceeding (4/14).

Dominion Retail and IGS Energy said that they are interested in participating in a formal proceeding before the Commission to continue consideration of such issues.

However, noting that the PUC's recent Secretarial Letter on the matter encouraged settlement, the suppliers stated they have begun discussions with PGW, to narrow and/or eliminate issues prior to bringing formal proposals before the PUC.

An additional 60 days will provide time for such settlement discussions to proceed.
