Updated: Green Mountain Energy Launches Fully Renewable EV Charging Plan

Green Mountain Energy Company has launched a fully renewable electric vehicle charging plan, which may be used in conjunction with NRG Energy's eVgo program, or independently.

For a customer not on one of the unlimited usage eVgo plans, Green Mountain's "Pollution Free EV" product offers a 12-month fixed rate per kWh, for both EV charging and non-EV household usage. In the CenterPoint area, this rate is 11.3 cents/kWh.

For customers buying unlimited EV charging through eVgo, no payment is made to Green Mountain under the Pollution Free EV plan, but Green Mountain will offset the customer's EV usage with renewable power, in an accounting transaction between NRG eVgo and Green Mountain. Payment for the unlimited EV charging is made directly to NRG under a separate bill. The customer will stay pay the Green Mountain rate for non-EV usage, on their Green Mountain bill.

Green Mountain's Pollution Free EV product is composed of 100% Texas wind.
