Integrys Energy Services Launches Residential Electric Service at ComEd

Integrys Energy Services has begun offering retail electric service to residential customers at Commonwealth Edison.
Integrys Energy Services is initially offering a 12-month fixed rate of 6.95 cents per kWh, but will shortly expand its offerings to include 24-month and 36-month products. The 12-month product includes an early termination fee of $50.
Integrys Energy Services will use direct mail and outbound telemarketing to support the offers, in addition to leveraging current relationships such as through programs offered to employees of existing commercial customers, affinity channels, and broker channels.
Integrys Energy Services will also leverage its current base of residential natural gas customers at Peoples, North Shore, and Nicor, though at this time it does not have any formally bundled combined electric and gas offers.
Brian Bowe, Illinois Direct Mass Market Manager for Integrys Energy Services, said that entering ComEd was a "natural move" given Integrys Energy Services' local presence, including its active small volume gas offers, local office, and parent's headquarters in downtown Chicago.
Integrys Energy Services will use ComEd consolidated billing to serve its residential customers.
The ComEd residential market marks the first residential retail electric market that Integrys Energy Services has served in some time, though it is active in the Illinois, Ohio, and Michigan gas mass markets. Bowe said that future residential electricity expansion is always possible, but that nothing is on the horizon.
Integrys Energy Services is the eighth supplier to enter the ComEd residential market, following BlueStar Energy Services (5/6), Champion Energy (1/5), Constellation Energy (2/22), Direct Energy (3/1), Energy Plus Holdings, LLC (2/17), Nordic Energy Services (3/1), and Spark Energy (1/25).
